Here are Belle Counselling we specialise in helping women find their hope again. Life has a way of throwing situations and circumstances at us that make life start to feel very turbulent. And once the turbulence hits, it can become disorientating to find your way back out again. Our counsellors specialise in supporting women through some of the hard experiences of life including dealing with self-worth issues, complex trauma, family or origin issues (& the impacts they have), relationship break down, eating disorders/disordered eating issues and significant life transition such as loss and parenthood.
Coming to counselling and choosing to turn around and face what you have been through isn’t an easy choice, but it’s a brave one. This might be the first time you have even considered counselling support or maybe you’re reaching out again after not finding the right fit in the past. Here at Belle Counselling, we want to make the process as smooth as possible and are here to answer any questions you may have about what this process may look like. Our counsellors have sat in the client’s chair themselves and know firsthand the vulnerability it takes to show up authentically and honestly.
So, we encourage you today to draw on your courage and put yourself first for a change. Reach out and let us know what support you need and take that first step of moving towards the life you hoped for.
Let me tell you a little about what inspired the logo...
During my gap year I took a trip to Cambodia. It was a part of a gap year program I was doing and while I loved everything else we did, the overseas trip was not something I was looking forward to. (Hats off, to those adventurous folks who enjoy travelling the world and seeing everything it has to offer, that is just not me 😊) For me, an adventure is talking to someone new, discovering a new waterfall or trying a new flavour of tea so you can imagine I was well outside of my comfort zone!
However, as much as I look back on that trip with mixed memories, some amazing, some terrifying, it was this time in my life where I really tapped into some of the painful things I had experienced so far in my young life and acknowledged how it had impacted me. I also got to know a little more about myself and be okay with being me. I stopped wrestling with the fact that I wasn’t someone who loved frequent overseas travel, meeting new people or being in large groups. I settled into the fact that I built the best connections with people one on one and that my unique way of seeing the world (because of my experiences) meant others felt understood by me when the rest of the world didn’t get it.
I’ve grown even more since then, but I remember that experience as time away from my everyday life where I was forced to finally stop and just breathe. Time where I was accepted by others when I showed up fully (tears and all)! Time where I didn’t have to be perfect or hold it all together but time where giving myself permission to just be me was granted.
That experience started a lifelong journey of continuing to face the painful stuff and continuing to grow even when it’s uncomfortable. At the end of this trip, one of the members of my group brought us all a necklace that had a dragonfly charm on it so we didn’t forget our time together. So for me, a dragonfly represents a time of reflection, a time of rest and a time of authentically showing up and being honest about who I am.
If you’re ready to start that journey, I’m here for you. No matter how uncomfortable, painful or terrifying it gets, you can do this and you’re not alone.
